What Our Veterans are Saying

Seldom in life are we surrounded by those that truly understand the sacrifices, struggles, joys and kinship found in the military - especially today. I really enjoy the camaraderie meetups because it makes me feel like I matter and other members value who I am; it helps to build a positive difference in how I feel about myself. Additionally, it enriches my compassion for others. These meetings provide a receptive place to express our feelings, feel seen, supported, and valued. When we can let go of all the superfluous nonsense and be comfortable just being ourselves - reminiscing about fun times and tough, we find some of our most needed human moments are met by those for whom we are grateful and who are also grateful for us.

- Jennifer T., USMC veteran

I tend to be someone who has a difficult time getting out and meeting people. Coffee and Camaraderie has been an amazing and enjoyable experience. It has allowed me to not only meet veterans in my area, but release some of the burdens that linger after getting out of the military. It can be very difficult to connect with people after getting out, and this program has allowed me to sit down in a quiet, comfortable, and thoughtful setting where other veterans like myself can gather and talk about our experiences both past and present.

- Sarah T., US Army veteran

As a soldier I never served in a combat theater. However, while I was an MP at Fort Hood, soldiers were injured and killed in traffic crashes and field training exercises, and illegal drugs and alcohol consumed many victims. I have never missed one of our Military Coffee & Camaraderie sessions. It is great to hear from men and women of all ages about their experiences and service in our military. It is very valuable to learn about helping resources and activities for those with PTS symptoms. Christine and Rob guide our conversations in a very thoughtful and helpful way. I do not dwell on the past and generally have a positive attitude. I find that our meetings help me to do that.

- Leo M., US Army veteran

Help Build Our Coffee Shop

We're ready to start looking for a home for our brick-and-mortar nonprofit coffee shop! Our desired location is in Coraopolis, PA, but most importantly, we want to be located on the Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus line so all veterans can have easy access. We need your help to bring this vision to life.
